Soccerex: A 25 Year Soccerwise Journey

27/04/21

The Youth Charter highlights its work with the Soccerex Global Convention as it celebrates its 25th Anniversary.

The Youth Charter brought the Sport for Development and Peace movement to the soccer world during the inaugural Soccerex at Wembley in April 1996. The Youth Charter launched the: Soccerwise programme at LA 1998 Soccerex Global Convention; Soccerwise Report at Manchester 2014 Soccerex Global Convention; and 'Code4Youth' at Manchester 2015 Soccerex Global Convention.

Our Soccerwise programme has been endorsed by FIFA, The FA, Clubs, Managers and Players from around the world. YC Chair and Founder, Prof. Geoff Thompson MBE FRSA DL, commented:

“Soccerex is very close to my heart and is a very important chapter of the Youth Charter journey. Following our invitation to attend Soccerex in Paris during the FIFA World Cup I developed a very strong relationship with Duncan and Rita. Since that time, the Youth Charter has attended and contributed to Soccerex on many occasions. Since Duncan’s tragic passing in 2016, Rita and her team have continued to build on the strength and depth that Soccerex created globally. On behalf of the Trustees of the Youth Charter, I would like to wish Soccerex all the very best on its 25th Anniversary and its continued impact in the world of Soccer.”
