The Glasgow 2014 Legacy Forum provided an ongoing and unique debate, discussion and dialogue of burning issues, challenges and opportunities in the social, cultural and economic legacy and impact benefits to young people and communities locally, nationally and internationally.
 
Following the Youth Charter presentation at the 2013 Sport Development Conference in April and the challenges set out by Stewart Harris of Sport Scotland to develop a bold and enhanced community sports development strategy, a number of agencies and individuals came together. The result of this was to explore how the Youth Charter’s ongoing legacy proposals could add value to the Glasgow 2014 legacy effort.
 
The Youth Charter established links with the Glasgow 2014 legacy team, organizing committee, Sport England and other public, private and community-based agencies and organisations. After three months of discussions, this saw the need to have a Forum that would look at how a real and lasting legacy impact could be made. In a remarkable timeframe of ten days the Forum was conceptualized, organized and delivered.
