Balsall Heath Carnival

Community Engagement team supported United By partner, Balsall Heath Commonwealth themed Carnival’ which brought local people together from Balsall heath and neighbouring wards of South East Birmingham, to firmly put the Commonwealth Games on their map.

The event is an existing feature in the annual calendar and has seen over 1000 people in attendance in previous years. This year saw event, 7 schools compete in 5 events, ‘representing’ commonwealth countries. Preceding this was a procession led by local musicians and school bands/choirs.

The roadshow featured Para-sport activity wheelchair basketball to complement other sports on offer to local participants and promotion of inclusive sport activities.
