A community open event celebrating inclusion and diversity in Birmingham. One of the five event supported via the Birmingham 2022 Large Festival Fund.

The Big John’s Birmingham Mela is a free mass community and family event that is targeted at the South Asian and Asian British communities. Now classed as UK’s largest Asian outdoor event, with no political or religious approach, the Mela is an event planned and orgnaised with the community reach in mind.

The event format throughout the day promotes live bands and music through local, national and international talent that are established, upcoming and new. With a buzz of arts, colour, culture, music, sports, a shopping bazaar and world foods on offer.

There were seven sports represented: Wheelchair Basketball, Boxing, Table Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Squash, Soft Archery
