Start Date
Location

End Date
07/06/22
Sparkhill, Birmingham, UK
Community Engagement team supported the ‘CWG Jobs fair’ event with the Community roadshow in conjunction with Muath Centre and Sparkhill Job centre to encourage applications for the Summer jobs campaign within local and ethnically diverse communities.
The area has historical high unemployment levels and important for the community engagement team to continue its work serving communities to not only highlight job opportunities available but also promote the Games and encourage cohesion.
The day was well attended with over 15 stall holders promoting jobs and skills, vacancies and support services within local area and Birmingham. The event targeted an intergenerational audience from post 16 students to local adults, all geared up to seeks opportunities with the Games and general information about the Games and sporting routes. Commonwealth sports offered taster ‘have a go’ sessions and utilised as an engagement tool to draw in local crowds and bring a sense of connection to the Games.
We were joined by Para-Olympian Mel Clarke, who supported sports activities, providing a unique view of sport and positive promotion of para-sports to local communities.
