Reclaiming our Parks - Part 1. For Project: Reclaiming Park spaces
Start Date
Location
29/05/22
End Date
29/05/22
Newtown, Birmingham, UK
Part 1 of our 2022 instalment of the Reclaiming park spaces project, has seen a collective effort and partnership with key stakeholders in the Newtown and Lozells area of Birmingham.
The Community engagement team supported this initiative with our Community Roadshow showcasing commonwealth sport as a means for active participation, physical and mental well-being and a catalyst for change in reshaping the negative connotations and experiences attached to Bunbury Park in Newtown.
The project aims to inject positive active into high impact/ hotspot areas, notoriously known for antisocial, disorderly behaviour and youth violence. The area has a high youth population, and the park is underused by local communities, making it a prime location for ongoing work to improve the area and created safe spaces for children, young people, families, and local community to play and participate in free physical activity.
Clarion futures, our jobs and skills partners, sponsored the event and provided jobs and skills support and advice to local residents in alignment with our jobs and skills campaign.
