The Liverpool Community Campus Stakeholder Engagement Workshop marked a major milestone in the journey of the Youth Charter. The workshop was hosted at the FireFit Hub in Toxteth, Liverpool, a fitting venue that itself reflects the power of community legacy and social impact.
For more than 25 years, Liverpool has played an important role in the Youth Charter’s story. Its rich sporting culture, artistic heritage and community spirit have provided the foundation for projects, programmes and initiatives that continue to inspire positive change. Yet many of the social, economic and cultural challenges facing young people remain, not only across Liverpool but throughout the wider Merseyside region.
What made the event particularly special was the diversity of those present. The room brought together generations of knowledge, wisdom and experience, alongside a new generation of emerging leaders whose journeys have been influenced by Youth Charter programmes and partnerships. Together, we explored the challenges facing young people and discussed practical solutions that can create opportunity, aspiration and hope for all.
A special thank you to former Lord Mayor Gary Miller for his unexpected but highly valued contribution to the discussions, reinforcing the importance of civic leadership and community collaboration.
The day concluded with the unique spirit that defines Liverpool – resilient, diverse, passionate and committed to its young people. That spirit gives me confidence that the Liverpool Community Campus will become a reality and serve as a beacon for education, health, employment, culture, citizenship and social cohesion.
My sincere thanks to everyone who attended, facilitated and contributed to what was a memorable and inspiring day.
Together, we explored the challenges facing young people and discussed practical solutions capable of creating opportunity, aspiration and hope for all.
